January 21st Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Around 2:50 a.m. County Deputies, LDCFM and Palmyra Township Fire responded on a single vehicle rollover accident in the 800 block of E 1650 Road. Deputies arrived first and reported that one person was critically injured and would need to be extricated from the vehicle. Fire crews arrived a short time later and immediately began working on extricating the patient from the heavily damaged vehicle. LifeStar Medical Helicopter was requested to respond to the scene to transport the patient. Since the vehicle had rolled over, fire crews checked the surrounding area with a thermal imaging camera to confirm that no one was ejected from the vehicle. No other patients were found. The patient, reported to be a male, was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. As new details become available, you can find them here from the Lawrence Journal-World’s report.

Back in Lawrence, Police continued to respond to the 500 block of Michigan after a non-injury accident, which occurred around 11:45 p.m., damaged a utility pole. The damage to the pole required Westar Energy to respond to the area. At one point, Westar reported nearly 3,000 customers were without power. As I was not listening when the accident occurred, I have no further details about the accident.

Police also responded on several disturbances, noise complaints and conducted a few vehicle stops.
