February 6th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Lawrence Police responded on four disturbances this morning, none of these involved the use of any weapons or resulted in any injuries.

Officers also responded on a noise complaint, one alarm and two medical emergencies with LDCFM.

At 4:56 a.m., LDCFM and LPD were dispatched to investigate a report of a structure fire near the Lawrence City Garage at 1141 Haskell Avenue. Lawrence Police arrived about a minute later and immediately reported that the structure was heavily involved with fire showing. LDCFM arrived and confirmed heavy fire showing from a 40ft x 60ft structure. Fire crews immediately took up defensive operations to contain the fire to the single structure. Several vehicles were parked near one side of the building, at least one was reported to be involved. Crews used aerial ladders to put water on the fire from above as well as from the ground. The majority of the fire was knocked down in about 40 minutes. As of this report, crews remain on scene extinguishing hot spots and working to investigate what sparked the fire. No injuries have been reported. More on this story can be found from the LJWorld.
