First snow comes, but doesn’t stick around in the Lawrence area

Weather Watch ...from the A.M.

The other day I asked everyone to guess when they thought we would receive our first snow. Congratulations, Tom Shewmon! You guessed the exact date!

Yesterday was the first snow, but for some, it was more than just a first snow, it was a lot of snow! Here are some of the higher snowfall totals we received around Northeast Kansas:

Morrowville (Washington Co.): 12″

Beattie (Marshall Co.): 7″

Marysville (Marshall Co.): 7″

Morrill (Brown Co.): 7″

Fairview (Brown Co.): 6″

Oketo (Marshall Co.): 6″

Baileyville (Nemaha Co.): 5″

Corning (Nemaha Co.) 4.5″

Belleville (Republic Co.): 3.5″

Concordia (Cloud Co.): 2″

Lyndon (Osage Co.): 1.5″

When I asked everyone to guess the day we would get our first snow, misplacedcheesehead said “even if we do get snow here, it won’t be enough to satisfy me!”

How do you feel about the snow; are you disappointed or relieved we didn’t receive more? I love the snow and wouldn’t mind a lot of snow this season, but what I don’t want is another ice storm.

I was living in Manhattan during the ice storm in 2007 and it was a mess! How much snow would you like to see this season? Also, if you have any rain/snow totals or weather pictures, please post them in the comments or e-mail them to us.
