Brownback: China set up to spy on Olympic hotel guests
U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback today accused the Chinese government of not living up to its end of the bargain when it was awarded the Beijing Olympics. He alleged China has set up a system to spy and gather information on guests at hotels. Here's a video from the AP: Reuters [also quoted][1] from Brownback's press conference:"The Chinese government has put in place a system to spy on and gather information about every guest at hotels where Olympic visitors are staying," said Sen. Sam Brownback. The conservative Republican from Kansas, citing hotel documents he received, added that journalists, athletes' families and others attending the Olympics next month 'will be subjected to invasive intelligence-gathering' by China's Public Security Bureau. He said the agency will be monitoring Internet communications at the hotels. The U.S. senator made a similar charge a few months ago but said that since then, hotels have come forward with detailed information on the monitoring systems that have been required by Beijing. Frankly, I think we have played like a lamb to slaughter to the Chinese in even contemplating having the Olympics in China. The Red Chinese are still as much our enemies as the Islamic terrorists. Only they have become more sane in their approach, they know they can lull us to sleep about their intentions with their smiling faces and cheap crap they export to us as willing pawns in the denigration of our society. The only difference between the terrorists and the Red Chinese is that the Chinese have learned the words of Teddy Roosevelt, "Walk softly and carry a big stick." We are willingly offering ourselves as the prime target for their "big stick" I say boycott the Chinese propaganda show thily disguised as some sort of world party.
