Boyda continues to wrangle with NRCC
Kansas Second Congressional District U.S. Rep. Nancy Boyda's staff called a claim "malarkey" in a [Harris News Service story this morning][1] after Republican Jim Ryun's campaign said this week she voted "for the largest tax increase in history."The criticism comes after a March vote on a non-binding budget resolution to map out budgets for future years and end tax cuts put in place earlier this decade. Democrats have also said they want to change the law to extend the tax cuts beyond 2010.Thomas Seay, a Boyda spokesman, told Harris News Service that Boyda supported not letting the middle-class tax cuts expire.Ken Spain, a National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman, issued a statement this morning saying that at least three Democratic House members voted against the budget resolution and called it a tax increase, especially on the middle class."Just like another Democrat politician, Nancy Boyda appears to be flip-flopping on her positions in the interest of political expediency," Spain said.In other news on the state's Second Congressional District race: [Ryun's new ad focuses on the military.][2]Last week, on KTKA 49 ABC News, Boyda [also blamed past Republican governors][3] of Florida and California for not expanding off-shore oil drilling. And in some breaking news, U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback, Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.) and others have [told FOX News][4] that Defense Secretary Robert Gates will reopen the bidding process for the $35 billion contract for refueling air tankers, which went to French-based Northrup Grumman Corp. ahead of Boeing in a controversial move earlier this year. I did not know Jim Ryun had an such an easy primary and is already attacking Boyda. But hey, I am sure she would rather fave Ryan over Jenkins.

I was surprised that I got an automated phone call claiming to be about a survey on voting trends this fall. It started out asking how favorable I was towards Boyda vs Ryun. Then the call stated how she voted for a large tax increase for the middle class and if I agree that such is what I want. Then the message went on to say that she was pro-abortion… I guess they are really desperate when they have to hide behind false pretenses of being part of a survey. Such tactics definitely get my vote. NOT!

The democrats have called us twice in the past 2 weeks. We are registered republicans, how difficult is it to figure out? I explained that they not do it again. Thank you, Lynn

I've had calls from democrats too, but at least I talked to a human being and it wasn't under the guise of saying it was an automated survey to figure out voter interest, and then stating how horrible the opponent was. That took the cake for being sleazy. They must be pretty desperate.
