Here are today’s headlines from the Kansas congressional delegation:Sen. Pat Roberts (R)!(Hays Daily News) Sen. Roberts talks politics: It will be Hillary Clinton on the ballot in ’08, students in the junior government class at Ness City High School learned Thursday. “On the Republican side, I don’t know,” Sen. Pat Roberts told the students who were attending a town hall meeting in the Ness County Courthouse. The students were joined by about 25 other people who turned out to hear what Roberts had to say about goings-on in Congress. Roberts was there to hear what people had to say. “You think Hillary’s going to win?” a member of the audience asked. “Yes, sir, I do,” Roberts said. “I expect her to win the nomination. The general election? I don’t know. It depends on who the Republicans have.” But, he lamented, “this is 2007. People are watching this like a soap opera.”Rep. Todd Tiahrt, R-Kan., came to town Friday and talked with city officials about the aftermath of flooding and other natural disasters that have plagued Kansas this past year. One hundred and two of the 105 counties in the state have been declared federal disasters from flooding, tornadoes, ice storms and wind storms. In addition, agriculture in state took a big hit from excessive rain and cold temperatures this spring. Tiahrt visited Arkansas City a day after touring Coffeyville and Independence, he said. He is currently on recess from Congress, which starts up again after Labor Day.
