Lion records interception against Big 12 foe
Former LHS standout Kieran Severa made an impressive play over the weekend.
The Drake linebacker intercepted Iowa State quarterback Kyle Kempt in the second half, giving his team a chance to take the lead against No. 24 ISU. It was the lone interception by the Bulldogs, who dropped a 27-24 decision.

Severa was credited with one solo tackle and four assists in the season finale.
Venters nets collegiate honor
Emily Venters accomplished a monumental feat this season.
The former Free State runner, who now competes for Boise State, competed in the NCAA national cross-country championship race in Madison, Wis. Venters finished 39th overall, which was good enough to earn an All-America honor. It marks the first time she has netted such an honor.
At Free State, Venters won five state titles, including first-place finishes in the 1,600-meter run and 3,200-meter run at the 2017 6A state track meet. She was a runner-up in both events as a junior in 2016.
