I got to sleep till 3:00 PM, got up and mowed, trimmed, sprayed, seeded the lawn.

Then I went to the movies.

Haven't eaten yet, but will be having shrimp & bow tie pasta with butter and parm.

Not a bad day all in all, could have used another couple hours of sleep though.

Not in our family. On Mother's Day we make Mom walk a 5K. Daddy just gets to eat lunch.

The father of a 1, 2 and 6 yo next door does not look happy today. He is spending time with all three of his boys at momma or grandma. The kids don't look happy either.

Today is probably the most effective motivator for birth control that momma could ask for. lol

Hope the father's day cook out turns a smile for him.

BBQ and beer. The only way to spend you fathers day. Even if you do shrift yourself later.

Why do they advertise items for both mother and fathers day that are totally traditional? People's tastes have changed since 1950. What is with the pen sets? Who even uses a pen any more? A man who works construction should be treated to a nice, soothing bath, (yes, men take baths), and be able just to sit and take it easy. How about just saying, hey, this is your day, what do you want?

And, to answer the poll, absolutely. In fact, I got to celebrate this sanctioned Sunday on a weeknight, taking in Prometheus at a local theater, with a son.

/ not bad, by the way, if you're into chick flicks.

That's what one gets for asking the short question.

short shrift noun rapid and unsympathetic dismissal; curt treatment;

A real man is a good father 365 days a year and doesn't give a flip about some Hallmark holiday.

Shrift Noun: 1. Confession, esp. to a priest: "go to shrift". 2. Absolution by a priest.

What is the meaning of the word shrift?

Holy cow Batman, I'm having to dig holes today for her plants before I go play golf. What's up with that? Short end of the stick, yes! Hopefully my 'short' game is on today.
