Depends on what you mean by "leave." I went outside several times--dragged reluctant dogs through the snow... dug my newspaper out of the drift... shoveled.... made an angel.... took pictures... put out more seed for the wild birds... but never got in the car and drove anywhere. Had a great time in the snow. Nothing warms you up like shoveling.

You don't know what you're missing until you've dragged a few shivering spoiled dogs out to do their duty. Then, there's the big dog who bounds through the drifts and would stay out there for hours if we let him.

I had not thought of adorning the snow angels. We have a trombone and some Halloween devil horns lying around--that would probably do it.

i went to the library early, of course flanders had closed it again without telling the public while other city offfices were open then. then i went to the barbershop, stopped to visit ny friends auto repair shop, then went home. stayed in the rest of the day. i hate snow.

Flanders had better stop this wussification and get his butt to his job. He needs to open the friggin' library.
To Flanderize: 'Bail on one's responsibilities in the name of extremely ridiculous caution' I looked it up in my imaginary dictionary!

Sorry, but I had read yesterday evening on the J-W site that the library wouldn't open today until 1 PM. That seems like fair enough warning. And I sure as heck wouldn't have expected it to be open at all yesterday.

Personally, with all the closings and warnings, I would have called the library in advance. But I'm not you.

You are correct, acorn. My bad.

Shoveled snow off my porch, got some wood for the fireplace, built fire, watched it snow! Repeated several times. My front sidewalk was clear but my porch kept getting covered with snow. I'll be tackling the street sidewalk today.

Yes. Checked up on mother and got her a few things.

Returned home to shovel... and shovel...and shovel...

Had to work, but got off a whole 45 minutes early.

Multiple trips to the wood shed.

Had to work since WalMart never closes for anything.

Yes I left the house - Between that pesky 'no work, no pay' thing (or burn up a day of vacation), making sure the sidewalks are clear or face a fine, checking in on the elderly, bringing wood in for the fire, etc, I think I actually spent most of the day 'out of the residence'.

I work at a power plant... so yes I did.

Regardless of RETICENT, from those of us who pay too much in taxes to be able to afford a 15 gigawatt generator, I want to say thank you for going to work and keeping the power on.

Since I don't work for the state, KU, the library, or the district court, I still had to work yesterday. So yes.

0

Liberty275 2 years, 3 months ago

I went out just to watch the people with 2wd drive cars get stuck.

Lab, I have my own 15KW generator. No need for you to go into work on my account.

0

labmonkey 2 years, 3 months ago

15KW...pfhuh. I make 15KW every time I urinate.... I mock your 15KW.

zikzak 2 years, 3 months ago

Had to work, but when I roll into work at 4am nothing was coming down.

Even though KU was closed, the Health Center remains open. Therefore, I worked.

jhawkinsf 2 years, 3 months ago

voted no since I didn't think going outside just to shovel snow counted.

Ditto. I spent at least three hours shoveling. Heard a gas motor this morning and looked out and a neighbor was coming up the street clearing the street in front of the mailboxes and then turned into my drive. A minute later another neighbor was there with his snowblower and they cleared in less than five minutes what would have taken me another three hours. I have great neighbors!! I'm so grateful I won't be so sore when I have to get up at 4AM tomorrow.

Yup - went to work - came home for lunch - got my car stuck in the drift in my drive - shoveled it out and put it in the garage. Husband got home from his shift so took his 4 wheel drive back o work then home and didn't set my nose out again!

I went streaking on campus.

I bet shrinkage was a b*tch.

Looked more like a belly button, an innie.

Cabin fever after staying in all day Tuesday. Drove around in the 4 wheel drive for entertainment. Small compact cars are not worth the gas savings when you get stuck in 2 inches of snow.

I went out & walked around and took 38 pictures in town (BC) then went for a drive in the country and got some more. Will download to a disc & maybe a hundred years from now somebody will see them. Or not.

0

weatherguy48 2 years, 3 months ago

Yup. Dug out my car while standing in knee-high drifts, got stuck like 15 times on my way to work, got to work, and we closed half an hour later. Drove back home. Ugh.
