With a city committed to "traffic smoothing", it looks like the lights will be used to "smooth", slow down, traffic, not to improve the speed of the flow of traffic.

hey ! if they run red lights and stop ya going to smooth that? they dont even slow down for school crossing guards.....your traffic program sucks and nothing is going to be done until some kid gets killed..but the city mgnt wont care because its not one of their kids...thats where the priority lies. I saw a good example of that last night after i came home from work....a young woman and her 3 year old son were wanting to cross the busy intersection* where i live so they could go over to the playground across the street ....4 way stop signs in this intersection..and do u think any of these drivers allowed this poor woman and her small child too cross...hell no! She waited and waited finally she gave up and they turned around and went back one allowed them to cross, and this is an intersection where a crossing guard is used in the morning for school kids. So, guess what you can do with your remote control!

Do I get to keep the remote control in my car?

Unfortunately, so does the guy coming the other way.

Should make things interesting.

This works. It will be helpful during games and big events.

This idea has merit. However, the BEST way to "smooth" traffic in Lawrence is to complete the eastern leg of the South Lawrence Trafficway.
