Pretty much anywhere there is amplified music, I wind up wearing earplugs.

Except, of course where I'm running the sound. . . Though it there is a drummer in the band, I may wind up wearing 'em anyway, 'cause drums are so darn loud I have to run everything else much, much louder than I would otherwise. . .

After 16 years of working on the flightline with constant jet engines running or the incessant high pitched whine of an APU I already know my hearing is going.

Too many rock concerts, locomotives, chainsaws and shooting of shotguns and rifles down through the years. Yup, I turn the volume down unless it's Brubeck.
My ears is shot but also have selective hearing. One morning last spring, before dawn, I heard a turkey gobbling and got up and went after him. By google earth, the tree he was in was ~1.36 miles away.
