How about a $hit eating dog, breed doesn't matter

labmonkey 9 years ago

Either a lab or a lab mix is the best dog in the world....but since he is pretty uppity, it will probably end up being an expensive pure-breed little yapping dog.

canyon_wren 9 years ago

What a stupid question! I hope that isn't the beginning of more "polls" about the "First Family" activities.

geniusmannumber1 9 years ago

And in purposely choosing a word, out of all the possible words in the English language, that's been used since the end of slavery to apply to any black man who doesn't "know his place" you are in no way expressing a racist sentiment.

gilcrouse 9 years ago

I think they should go with the Kenyan Marxist Terrier.

labmonkey 9 years ago

How is what I said racist? All I have had is black labs or mixes. They are very loyal and a good dog to have with kids.

CrazyDiamond 9 years ago

A pit bull is out of the question because that's what McCain was going to bring. You know, the one with the lipstick.

I just woke up this morning and my inner thesaurus was not working (note my post was at 4:26 am). The only thought that went through my head this morning was the whole aruboula at Whole Foods thing. After pointing out Blazing Saddles, I can see that might have been taken wrongly...but I still don't like it when people try to pin racisim when rasism isn't intended. Genius, you should watch the SNL skit with Ben Afleck playing Keith Olberman last week ( and that is how you are comming off to me. Since uppity is apperantly a racist word, then I meant to say that Obama is snobbish, haughty, has little in common with the average American and he will get one of those little Paris Hilton type dogs that has to be constantly groomed.

gl0ck0wn3r (Anonymous) says: As a member of a correct class, Obama should set an example for the proletariat by not engaging the the bourgeois enslavement of animals. Setting correct examples for the masses will create an atmosphere in which the Great Leap shall be effortless...Definiton: proletariat (from Latin proles, "offspring") is a term used to identify a lower social class; a member of such a class is proletarian. ...

Autie, I'm in no way racist, I was just going by the poll. The fact that everyone is voting Mutt, I voted dachshund, proves it's others, not myself, that are having some racial issues.

Buffylo Gal,I checked with the big guy (my Boxer), because after reading your post, I was alarmed that I might have been cohabitating with a republican all of this time. He swears he's democrat and based on the fact that he's generous about sharing his food and his toys, he has a mighty bark but he isn't much of a biter, and he's very accepting of other creatures, I'm inclined to believe him. I'll be on the alert for any signs that he's a closet republican, though. If he starts to hog the food and water when his doggie friends visit, or if he starts a fight with one for no apparent reason, or starts getting preachy when one of his buddies licks themselves, I'll know then that he's an elephant in donkey's clothing. If that turns out to be the case, some serious and immediate intervention will be in order! :-)

labmonkey 9 years ago

I call anyone who talks about people clinging to their religion and guns as uppity...white or black.

Chrissy Neibarger 9 years ago

An American Bulldog/Black Lab mix. Very loyal dogs!

SMe 9 years ago

What the Obama's really need to "get" is even with the designer of that red and black atrocity Michelle wore the other night.

geniusmannumber1 9 years ago

Hey, who needs lame socialist cracks when we've got labmonkey to make openly racist ones?

meggers 9 years ago

A Boxer would be fun. I believe I read somewhere that a Wheaten Terrier is on their short list. I've heard they're pretty cool dogs.

alm77 9 years ago

madameX, I agree; a shelter dog. That's why I picked mutt. The most average American dog you can get would be a mutt. That or a golden retriever. But either way, it should be from a shelter.

9070811 9 years ago

A mixed breed works well! We're all mixed breeds here in the States. How bout that?

madameX 9 years ago

They should do the kind thing and adopt a dog from a shelter. Doesn't matter what breed.

Buffylo Gal said: "Everyone knows that dogs are Republicans and cats are Democrats. Why not get a cat?"Actually, Repubs are elephants and Dems are Jack Asses, I mean, Donkeys. No one Obama won with peeps like you voting.

situveux1 9 years ago

These are the kinds of polls I can expect for the next four years huh?

bluerose 9 years ago

a nice golden lab! or a gentle mutt from the pound who really really needs a good home.if they get a chihuahua i will probably want to ask for my vote back.

jonas_opines 9 years ago

Where's the button for "A socialist one!1! Cu'z barak HuSsEiN Obama is a socialist! omgwtf!" ?

meggers 9 years ago

madamex,Actually, they ARE looking into getting a rescue dog. I agree that it would be a good decision.

Kat Christian 9 years ago

A Sheltie. They are the 2nd smartest dog. They are loving, obedient and so much fun. They are like people in fur wrappings. And they make the most adorable puppy.

gl0ck0wn3r 9 years ago

Uh, oh! The current WH dog, Barney, bit a reporter: Barney should have been the WH Press Secretary all along!

roger_o_thornhill 9 years ago

Mr. Monkey, If you are familiar with the movie "Blazing Saddles" and the way that Slim Pickins' character "Taggert" refers to "Sheriff Bart" you might see how some here would get the ideas that they have about what you said.As for dogs...yawn. Is this really something worthwhile? Ooh, what color tie should he wear to his inauguration? Bosh! Flimshaw! Who cares!

jaycat 9 years ago

A droppy dog and name it Maverick!!!!!!!

lily 9 years ago

A mutt from the pound that needs a home. Mutts seem to be healthier overall and totally devoted since you saved them!!

geniusmannumber1 9 years ago

My apologies, labmonkey. Calling a black man "uppity" is not racist. I stand corrected.

Redneckgal 9 years ago

I heard that he promised his girls a puppy before they made the move to the White House. If its for kids I would have to say a lab. They are probably the best family dog you can get.

Jennifer Forth 9 years ago

meggers - check your boxer for the tell-tale signs - - I only worry about "peeps" around Easter so I have no idea what you are talking about.

Trobs 9 years ago

Ha, mutt is #1. Mixed breed, GET IT?

meggers 9 years ago

jason,No wonder McCain lost with "peeps" like you making gross generalizations about millions of people you know nothing about. If you can't beat 'em, insult 'em...You lost and America won. Get over it.

bolshavik_vw 9 years ago

2 weiner dogs. Thats what we have. They are great pets.

antney 9 years ago

He's already got a pitbull in Rahm Emanuel

jackpot 9 years ago

How about a shelter dog? The service dog we have came from the shelter. He is mixed breed but got the good from both breeds.

madameX 9 years ago

Oh, chill out. It's for fun. You remember fun, right?

Calliope877 9 years ago

A Pit Bull...and he should make it wear lipstick....I kid you.

Jennifer Forth 9 years ago

Everyone knows that dogs are Republicans and cats are Democrats. Why not get a cat?

Christine Anderson 9 years ago

I say they should get a lab or bordercollie/lab mix, because this kind of dog helped save my autistic son's life. His stepmomma had trained the dog to help find him in the event he ever "eloped" from the house. The dog was presented with a shirt with my son's scent on it, and led the stepmomma right to where the police had already rescued him out of the middle of the street. Good dog, very good dog.

mom_of_three 9 years ago

some labs are very energetic as puppies. that would be interesting in the white house. Like the idea of adopting a dog from a rescue or shelter. Adopted a yellow lab from the shelter, and a jrt from a rescue organization. Both very loving dogs.

Nikki May 9 years ago

I picked mutt because of our dogs, the mutt is the good one and people shouldn't waste money on over priced designer dogs when there are plenty of dogs already born and in shelters. To quote Bob Barker, "Help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered."

geniusmannumber1 9 years ago

labmonkey--I assumed that when you used a word you knew what it meant. I'm not talking about its racial connotations -- maybe you do live in a vacuum -- but you literally did not know the definition of the word. So I'm sorry I gave you so much credit. And I'm sorry you still watch SNL.
