Coach Self is a college basketball coach not an urban planner. How will coach Self guarantee this multimillion dollar structure will pay back?
This is not a tax free project folks.
Lawrence would benefit greater if all of the college home games were played at home in Lawrence,Kansas. How about if Coach Self work on that multimillion dollar matter?
If Coach Self is offered a huge contract one day he is out of here just like Roy and Larry Brown. Let's be real.

Gosh, and I thought this was a joint effort between a private foundation and the public school district. Whether the Assists Foundation gets involved or not, Lawrence needs better athletic facilities for its high schools. Thus, increased taxes are coming on way or the other. At least if it is a partnership, the added value to the community will not just be to athletic teams and parents. Some times you must be able to see past the end of your nose.

He was offered a huge contract by Oklahoma St., his alma mater. Notice he didn't go.

Honestly, the automatic negativity that meets every proposed initiative gets tiresome. To criticize Coach Self for wanting to get involved and help the community and to automatically assume tax hikes are short-sighted and counterproductive approaches. For those who are familiar with the sport and recreation facilities in Lawrence and think that they are sufficient, you need to visit any of a number of communities where they have made investments in improving such facilities and are reaping not only economic benefits, but quality-of-life benefits.
Be more positive, people.

Let me get the Magic 8 Ball, then we'll have the answer.
“try again later”
that was a lot of help. I didn't see that on the voting options!
