Can still get cheaper at Walmart
Too bad there wasn't a "heck yes" category.
Then we need a "Heck no" category.
They did not ask if you were going to purchase anything or not. I went, but did not purchase a thing.
I love the sidewalk sale. It is my second favorite day on the Lawrence calendar, after the day after Graduation. I look forward to it each year, and I long for the day when I don't have to work full time so I can spend the entire day in downtown. As it is, I have a worklife tradition that I go from 6 am to 8 am. The merchandise and heat are at their best at that time. Today, I bought two pairs of shoes, some Legos and shower gel. Addiitonally, I ran into three friends and got some exercise.
I didn't get there till around 5pm and was able to find a few things I liked. Some sports shirts from Joe College and the Sports Dome, food from Au Mache and Brits, KU baseball cap from The Palace, and my girlfriend bought dresses from Arizona Trading Company and Creation Station. And I also obtained a couple of Super Nintendo games from the Game Nut for half price. The best part was eating at Genovese Italian Restaurant (where Mass St. Deli used to be) after the shopping. The food was REALLY delicious.
The weather was nice, the shopping fine and the dining downtown superb. The sidewalk sale was fun for me.
