Even after 8 inches of snow Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, the city's main thoroughfares were drivable Wednesday morning. But the excess of snow pushed to the side of the streets left many motorists with a buried car and a big shovel job.

This picture was taken early in the afternoon...two stacked "Lawrence, Kansas" bricks, the bottom one already covered in a fresh layer of snow. (They are both now buried under a three-foot snow drift.)

"While I was content to stay indoors during the blizzard this afternoon, my dog Farley did need to head outside to brave the elements, if ever so briefly.
