Letter to the editor: Never forget 9/11

To the editor:

On Sept. 11, 2001, 17 years ago, we had the biggest attack on U.S. soil since Pearl Harbor. Everyone was worried, confused, sad, mad, and swore to never forget. Well, in Lawrence, they’ve forgotten! In the Lawrence Journal-World, on Sept. 11, there were six pages in section A, four pages in section B (USA Today), and six pages in section C (sports and classifieds). Guess how many words about 9/11? Zero! Yep, not a single word about the single biggest act of war/terrorism in our nation’s history! I will NEVER forget!

Just do me one favor. Take a second, a minute, whatever time you feel is appropriate, but remember the lives that were taken that day. Remember the destruction that occurred. Remember the military personnel that lost their lives and those that continue to serve protecting us from future acts of terror. By the way, in case you didn’t know, the war on terror is still going on today, 17 years later. As a retired veteran, it’s so very sad that, in such a short amount of time, you’ve forgotten the biggest attack on American soil!

Shame on you, LJWorld!

Jay Pine,

Lawrence
