Letter to the editor: Deplorable tactics
To the editor:
I have been horrified by the Democrat antics of the Senate Judiciary Committee in its efforts to vilify a decent and honest judge. The reversal of the American value of presumed innocence has been enthusiastically and irresponsibly trashed by Brett Kavanaugh’s detractors. Judge Kavanaugh has joined President Trump as a target who, no matter what he says, does, or did, is consistently interpreted negatively.
On the other hand, we have seen some remarkable humor. Sen. Cory Booker (aka Spartacus) is rightfully mocked (Booker, Thrace?). The double standards are becoming the subject of jokes.
I see a cultural divide in which Democrats and Republicans act as if the other side is despicable. The main difference between the Republicans and the Democrats in the Kavanaugh saga is the underhanded tactics of the Democrats and their allies.
We need to understand that anyone who affects history is deplored by the opposition. Even Jesus was deplored (and later crucified) by his enemies. Judge Kavanaugh has the high honor of being deplored by the despicable. I just hope that we can stop the use of deplorable tactics in pursuit of political power with a Red Wave in November.
