To the editor:

Before we get much further into this year’s basketball schedule, I’d like to make a comment, pose a question and propose a rule.

The Rule: If you’re fortunate enough to score tickets for seats behind the KU bench, you must stay off your cellphone when the TV cameras are on. It doesn’t look good.

The question: Why can’t somebody invent a gizmo that’ll let me mute my TV and listen to the radio broadcast without the 20-second delay? My brain can’t take another year of Dick Vitale.

The comment: The men’s basketball team is fun to watch and easy to love, but you owe it to yourself to check out the women’s volleyball team. They’re every bit as athletic; they’re well-coached; and they never miss a free throw.
