Letter to the editor: Great parade

To the editor:

Thank you so much to those responsible for organizing a wonderful Veterans Day parade honoring Lawrence Veterans on Sunday. It was fantastic!

The morning was so perfect and the crowds came out to acknowledge, celebrate and say thank you to those men and women who had put their lives on the line for our country. I was especially touched by the gentleman who portrayed a Revolutionary soldier. My fourth great-grandfather, Lt. Col. Jerimiah Bugg, fought in that war for independence and when I saw that gentleman it certainly gave me pause. My family has a strong military background followed by my third great-grandfather, who fought for the Union during the Civil War, then my maternal grandfather, who fought during WWI, my father in WWII, and my husband in Vietnam. Attending the parade was a way to thank the veterans in the parade and the men from my own family.

Thank you, too, for inviting the KU marching band to participate. They provided an extra-special touch to the parade!

Job well done! Thank you!

Jeannine Wyatt,

Lawrence
