Frances M. Shuck

Frances Minnie Heck Shuck, was born in Westphalia, KS, on February 18, 1929. The daughter of William Peter Heck and Verna Mae Hirt Heck. She passed away on May 11, 2018, at the age of 89 years old. She was baptized on May 5, 1945, into the Old German Baptist Church. On September 28, 1957, she was united in marriage to Darrell C. Shuck, they shared over 60 years together. She was a homemaker, all her married life. Mom, loved to be outside. She loved her garden and canning the produce she raised, it was rewarding to her. Flowers were her greatest passion. She loved planting them, and watching them grow and bloom. To her, they were God’s miracle, beautiful and full of life. She loved being with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death, by her parents; a sister, Ruby Flora; a brother, Owen Heck; and a sister-­in-­law, Wanda Heck. Survivors include her husband, Darrell; three sons, David William (wife Laurie) of Overbrook, Douglas Charles (wife Dotti), Daniel Darrell (wife Bonnie) all of Lawrence; daughter Donita Jo DeMersseman (husband Randy) of Baldwin City; five grandchildren, Dawn Huddleston, Dara Wilson, Savanna, Dustin, and Charlie Shuck; two great grandsons, Bryce Huddleston and Arthur Wilson; sister, Florence Heck of Pratt; brother, Raymond Heck of Westphalia; two sister­-in-laws, Thelma Heck of Westphalia, Barbara Knaus of Georgia; brother­-in-­law, Duane Shuck (wife Lois) of Overbrook; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A visitation will be held at the Willow Springs Old German Baptist Church, Wednesday, May 16th, from 5­-7 PM. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 17th, at 10 AM, at the Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assoc., or to the Willow Springs Old German Baptist Church, sent in care of the funeral home.
