Emma “June” Eberhart

Funeral service for Emma “June” Eberhart, 88, Lawrence will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. She died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Eudora Medicalodges.
June was born on September 7, 1924 in Tonganoxie, KS the daughter of Amos Taylor and Edith Fay (Bingham) Rhodes.
June worked at the telephone company while attending Lawrence High School and after graduation was Secretary for Sunflower Ammunition Plant and Secretary for military officers at Kansas University during World War II. She was also employed as Secretary for Maupintour Travel Agency after which she worked for over 30 years for the Certified Public Accountant firm originally partnered by Lesh, Bradley, Barrand and Schehrer as an Administrative Secretary, from which she retired. She reentered the workforce and was employed for Barber Emerson Law Firm as Receptionist until the age of 82.
Her main hobby was her family. She was an avid member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was involved with many Church activities including being a Stephens Minister, Church Council Member, Caring Committee Member, Assistant Wedding Coordinator, Office Assistant, Teacher and Volunteer.
She was a reader for Audio Reader and a member of Professional Secretaries International, Soroptimist Club and Trinity Service Class.
Survivors include son, George T. Elliott, Lawrence; three daughters, Angela F. Mitchell, Republic, MO, Cathy M. Davis, Eudora, KS, Linda J. Virtue-Horn, Blue Springs, MO; 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, William E. Rhodes.
The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Trinity Lutheran Church or Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Association-Greater KC Area and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
