Nola A. Pickett

Memorial services for Nola A. Pickett, 91, Lawrence will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. She died Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Neuvant House of Lawrence.
She was born April 12, 1921, in Elwood, Utah, the daughter of Frank N. and Lena C. (Miller) Agricola.
Nola served our country as a U.S. Navy WAVE during World War II, She was a Lieutenant JG.
She has been a resident of Lawrence since 1951.
Nola was a member of the Lawrence Unitarian Fellowship. She was a lifelong Democrat and supporter of equal rights for all.
She was an active homemaker, participating in the KU University Women’s Club, bowling leagues and various bridge groups. She was a member of the Kaw Valley Quilt Guild and was an amazing quilter who won prizes for her beautiful quilts.
Nola was married to Calder M. Pickett on March 20, 1947, in Ogden, Utah. He survives at Neuvant House.
Other survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Zeligman, of Overland Park and Kathleen Jenson, of Chicago; two grandchildren; Laura Zeligman of Chicago and Daniel Zeligman of Los Angeles. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials in her name to Audio Reader. Memorials may be sent in care of the mortuary.
The family will greet friends an hour prior to services at the mortuary.
