James “Jim” Thomas Newell

Services for James “Jim” Thomas Newell, 54, Baldwin City, will be 10 am Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sutton Cemetery.
Jim died February 27, 2013 in Leadville CO.
He was born November 17, 1958, in Lawrence, the son of Harry and Clarice Deay Newell. Jim graduated High School from Baldwin City in 1977. He owned and operated Jim Newell Trucking for the past 30 Years. He enjoyed many hours and years trail riding with family and friends. He was the guy that always made you feel welcome when you visited, a wonderful host. A very talented person that could do anything he put his mind to, he constantly had multiple projects going and he thought they should have been done yesterday. Always had a story to make you laugh and made sure there was a good time, loved a good argument in which he was never wrong and enjoyed life the only way he knew how. Jim strived to teach his children his way of life, work hard and reap the benefits.
Jim married his best friend and the love of his life, Brenda Y. Burton on April 4, 1981 in Baldwin City. She survives of the home. Other survivors include a son; J.T. Newell, Baldwin; a daughter Pamela Y. Carnagie and husband Drew, Lawrence; two brothers Tim Newell, and Virgil Newell both of Baldwin, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Vernon Newell who passed in 1991.
Friends may call from noon to 8 pm. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 6 pm to 7pm. The family suggests memorials made to American Heart Association sent in care of the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to rumsey-yost.com
