Jane M. Frye Barnes 1933 - 2013 Lawrence, KS
Funeral services for Jane M. Frye Barnes, 79, Lawrence, KS, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church in Lawrence with Pastor Delmar White officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. She died on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Jane was born on March 19, 1933 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Robert and Alice Bronson Frye. She was a 1952 graduate of Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence.
She worked for many years as a housekeeper in the Kappa Kappa Gamma Social Sorority before her retirement.
Jane was a member of the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church and was also the Past Worthy Matron of the Siloam Chapter #10, Order of the Eastern Star.
She was married to James O. Barnes on June 1, 1956 in Lawrence, KS. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Marla and husband, Melvin Ray, of Topeka, KS, Ursula and husband, James Minor, of Lawrence, KS, Carmela and husband, Allen Humphrey, of Lawrence, KS, and Gayla Barnes, of Lawrence, three sons; Calvin Barnes, Lawrence, KS, Mark L. and wife, Gladis Barnes, of Lawrence, KS, Barry R. and wife, Lisa Barnes, of Lawrence, KS, a brother, Art Frye, of Lawrence, KS, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Ninth Street Missionary Baptist Church and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
