David Allen Trowbridge 1940 - 2013 rural Franklin County
A celebration of life for David Allen Trowbridge, 72, rural Franklin County, Kansas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 25th, 2013 at the American Legion Post 228, 803 High Street, Baldwin City, Kansas. David will be laid to rest at Sutton Cemetery in rural Baldwin City, Kansas.
David passed away Wednesday, January 16th, 2013 at his home in rural Franklin County, Kansas. He was the son of Earl and Lula (Jennings) Trowbridge.
David was born in rural Douglas County on January 19th, 1940. He joined the United States Navy in 1958, where he served as a Quartermaster of navigation on the USS Los Angeles in Hong Kong, Guam, Philippines, and the Formosa Straight and was later transferred to the USS Trathen. David lived in California for several years and worked for the Sears and Roebuck Company. In 1966, he moved back to Douglas County, Kansas where he continued working for the Sears and Roebuck Company in Overland Park, Kansas. He later worked for the Kansas State Highway Department. David joined the United States Air Force Reserves in 1976 as an Air Cargo Specialist serving in Germany and Hawaii. David owned and operated D&L Mobile Home Movers for 13 years with his wife Linda. For the Past 32 years he was a truck driver for several different companies until his retirement in the fall of 2012. David was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. David also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. David married Myra Traetow on January 7th, 1961, in California and was later divorced. On May 14th, 1993, he married Linda Raby in Lawrence, Kansas. David was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Lula Trowbridge, sister Marry Ann, brother Lee and granddaughter Allison Raby. David is survived by his wife Linda, of the home, children Christina Diedel and husband Dan of Lawrence, Kansas, David Allen Trowbridge Jr. and wife Cindy of Baldwin City, Kansas, Scott Raby and wife Stephanie of Manford, Oklahoma, Jami Raby of Ottawa, Kansas, and Mathew Trowbridge of Wellsville, Kansas. Grandchildren, Keaton and Krista Diedel, Zachary, Timothy and Amanda Trowbridge, James and Billy Miller. He is also survived by two brothers, Ray Trowbridge and wife Bonnie of Desert Hot Springs, California, and Roy Trowbridge and wife Bobbie of Seneca, Missouri.
