Elizabeth “Betty” Corwine 1918 - 2013 Michigan Valley
Michigan Valley--Elizabeth “Betty” Corwine, 94, passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her home near Overbrook. She was born on October 14, 1918 in Olpe, KS., the daughter of Christian and Sallie Schradter Krueger.
Betty had lived in Wellsville before moving to a farm north of Michigan Valley in 1969. She had lived there until moving to Sunflower Plaza in Ottawa 11 years ago, she had just moved to rural Carbondale.
Betty had worked for Brookside Manor in Overbrook as a cook for many years.
On June 7, 1946, Betty was married to Oren “Jack” Corwine on June 7, 1946 in Garnett. Betty was preceded in death by Jack on May 15, 2001 and by one grandson Damon Corwine.
Betty is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Wright (Jim) of Wellsville and Patricia Bame (Jack) of Carbondale; her three sons, J.D. Corwine (Idonna) of Michigan Valley, Terry Corwine (Kathy) of Wellsville and Steven Corwine (Marci) of Windsor, CO.; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Betty will be at 10:30am on Monday, January 14 at the Feltner Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Pomona. The family will receive friends from 3:30-5:00pm on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to 4-H or Midland Hospice, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS., 66451.
