Julia Louise Saenz
Mass of Christian Burial for Julia Louise Saenz, 62, Lawrence, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She died January 6, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 6, 1950 in Lamar, CO the daughter of Joe and Kathryn “Katie” (Godinez) Saenz.
Julia was an office manager for St. John the Evangelist Catholic School.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was active in the Pastoral Council and with the Fiesta.
She married James Michael Self on May 2, 1981 in Great Bend, KS. He preceded her in death on July 5, 2010.
Survivors include one son, James “Michael” Self, Lawrence, one daughter, Kathryn “Katie” Self, Denver, CO; two sisters, Mona (Andy) Webb, Wichita, KS; Monica (Len) Ortega, LaCrosse, KS; four brothers, Rito (Jeannie) Saenz, Topeka, KS; Joe Saenz, Chris (Laura) Saenz, Manuel Palacio, all of Great Bend, KS and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Edward Saenz, and a sister-in-law, Linda Saenz.
A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Warren- McElwain Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Oncology Department or to Visiting Nurses Hospice.
