Laura Lea Barker 1978 - 2013 Valley Falls
Laura Lea Barker, 34, Valley Falls, died unexpectedly Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka.
She was born on March 24, 1978, at Topeka, the daughter of William Menzies and Sharon Layton Barker. She attended Valley Falls schools and later attended Benedictine College in Atchison.
Laura worked as a CNA at LinnWood Park Assisted Living in Valley Falls. She was a member of St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her father, William Menzies Barker, on April 1, 2007.
Survivors include her companion, Grant Lassiter, and daughter, Lily Lassiter, both of the home, her mother, Sharon Barker, Topeka, her sister, Heather Barker, Valley Falls, three brothers, Robert Barker, Columbus, OH, William B. Barker, Houston, TX, and Rodger Barker, Winchester, and grandmother, Lillian M. Barker, Lawrence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Valley Falls. Burial will be at the Valley Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Mercer Funeral Home in Valley Falls.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lily Lassiter Educational Fund and sent in care of the funeral home, PO Box 6, Valley Falls, KS 66088.
