Richard Ray Chapman 1953 - 2013 Oskaloosa
Richard Ray Chapman, 59, of Oskaloosa, KS., died unexpectedly at his home February 11, 2013. He was born October 18, 1953 at Coleman, TX., the son of Raymond Loyd and Iva Lee Hendricks Chapman. He attended high school in Coleman, receiving his GED. He served in the U.S. Army from November 1970 to March 1978. He worked at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, KS., from June 1978 to July 2005, where his most recent appointment was as Supervisor of Laundry at the Ft. Leavenworth Disciplinary Barracks. He married Leanne Woodward at Ft. Leavenworth, on March 26 1974. She survives of the home, other Survivors include two sons, Dallas and wife Jessica Chapman, and Austin and wife Jessica Chapman, all of Oskaloosa. One Sister, Margaret “Suzi” Long, Granbury, TX., one niece, and two great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one Daughter, Dawn Marie Chapman in 1977, and his brother Billy Jack Chapman in 1997. Services will be 11:00AM Saturday at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa, Visitation will be 9:00AM to 11:00 AM before the services. Burial will follow at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Oskaloosa. In Lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made to the Jefferson County Historical Society or to Jefferson County Home Health Care, and sent in care of the funeral home PO Box 602 Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
