Betsy Ann Webster

Betsy Ann Webster, 88, was born September 24th, 1925, in Kansas City, MO to Harvey and Margaret Harmon Wilson.

She graduated Central High School in 1942, and there met her future husband. She married Carroll Meyer Webster on May 13th, 1945, and was later divorced in October 1963.

Betsy moved to Lawrence in 1967, and remained there until her passing. She was preceded in death by one son, Randall Ray Webster, and is survived by sons Alan Wayne Webster, Lawrence; Kimberly Scott Webster, Aztec, New Mexico; a daughter, Jennifer Jo (Joie) Webster, Lawrence; two grandsons, Aaron Paul Miller, Lawrence, and Hagen Shea Miller, Long Island, NY; and nieces and nephews Carolyn Albright, Amy Mundinger, Brandon Wilson, and Brittian Wilson.

At ages 16-18, Betsy was a successful fashion illustrator for the KC Star. She was an accomplished artist in a wide variety of mediums and disciplines, including watercolor, oil, acrylic, ceramics, silver smithing, pastel, pencil, batik, weaving, charcoal portraits, ink and stone carving. She attended art classes at Washburn University from 1956-1966, and Kansas University in 1968.

Aside from her artistic talents, Betsy was an avid gardener, and attended to her koi fish pond daily. She was passionate for cooking, KU basketball, and of course her family.

She was also a Siddha of Maharashi Mahesh Yogi of transcendental meditation, studying under him personally in Italy from April to June, 1978.

Donations can be made in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society. Cremation is planned, while services for family and friends remain pending for February 2014, at which time Puja will be performed.
