Alma Louise Rose

Alma Louise Rose, 100 years and 4 months, Tonganoxie, KS, passed away September 27, 2012 at Providence Place in Kansas City, KS. Alma lived in the Tonganoxie, KS area for 70 years.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the Quisenberry Funeral Home, Tonganoxie, KS. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the historic Reno Methodist Church located at the Tonganoxie Historical Society, 201 W. Washington St., Tonganoxie, KS.
Alma was born on May 26, 1912 the daughter of William C. and Bertha Koch of Hanover, KS. Alma was honored in 1991 as being the only person born at the Hollenberg Pony Express site. She was active as a quilter with the Riford Senior Center. Alma and her husband enjoyed farming throughout their life and were honored in 1969 by the Kansas Bankers Association for proper land management.
Alma maintained an active poultry flock and sold farm fresh eggs throughout the area. She was a 4-H project and food leader for 23 years. Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Rose, and her son-in-law, Lee W. Newton.
Alma is survived by one daughter, Nadine J. Newton, Bonner Springs; three sons, Larry L. Rose (Reita), Lawrence, Robert B. Rose (Carolyn), Dwight and Jack D. Rose (Janet), Omaha, NE; one sister, Edna M. Clark, Hanover, KS; 12 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
