Stanley Paul Krysztof 1938 - 2012 Baldwin City
Stanley Paul Krysztof, 74, of Baldwin City, passed away on September 21, 2012, at his home. He was born March 11, 1938 in Hamtramck, MI, the oldest son of Stanley Paul and Isabelle Bernice (Galubenski) Krysztof. As a boy, Stan moved to Harris, Ks, with his family in the 1940’s and was responsible for operating the family farm during his youth. He graduated from Garnett High School with the class of 1955 and moved to California with his wife and family to become a tool and cutter grinder at North American Aviation. He returned to Kansas in 1973 where he later started his business in 1977, K & K Grinding & Machine Co., in Baldwin City, with his wife and later his son, until his retirement in 2009.
He was an altar server as a young boy and later attended Grace Episcopal Church of Ottawa, Ks. serving as Lector. He was active in youth sports while coaching his children’s softball and baseball teams and also serving as President of their respective leagues. After the move to Baldwin City, he umpired many youth ball games. He was elected to serve as a Baldwin City Council Member (1995-1997) and the city Mayor (1997- 2001).
Stan joined the “Over the Road Gang” car club of Ottawa where he was an active member. He enjoyed restoring classic cars, maintaining his yard and spending time with his family.
On April 6, 1957, Stanley was united in marriage with Barbara Macklin in Garnett, Ks. They shared over 55 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife Barbara, his children, Deborah (Scott) Riles, Thousand Oaks, CA; Stephen (Lori) Krysztof, Baldwin City, three brothers, Eugene (Inge) Krysztof, Austin, TX; Raymond (Jackie) Krystof, Houston, TX; Gerald (Diane) Krysztof, Baldwin City; two sisters, Elaine (Steve) Fry; Janet Krysztof; six granddaughters, Kimberly (Eric) Sachs and Whitney Riles both of Thousand Oaks, CA; Katie (Martin) Delaney, Fort Bragg, NC; Emily Krysztof, Pittsburg; Brianna Krysztof and Michaela Krysztof, Baldwin City; three great grandsons, Ben and Jack Sachs; Max Delaney.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Thomas.
Graveside services for those wishing to attend will be on Thursday, Sept. 27, 11:00 am at Sutton Cemetery, 56 Highway, Baldwin City. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, Baldwin city.
