Albert Pippert, Jr.

Graveside services for Albert Pippert, Jr. 86, will be at 11:00 am, Monday, September 24, 2012 at Sutton Cemetery, west of Baldwin Junction. Albert Pippert died after a long illness at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka, KS, September 20, 2012. He was born August 25, 1926 in Worden, KS son of Albert Conard Pippert and Mary Catherine (Sutton) Pippert.
Albert married Betty V. (Allen) Pippert on August 27, 1949 in Ottawa, Kansas. They celebrated their 63rd anniversary in 2012.
Survivors include his wife Betty of the home, Sisters: Maxine Kirk of Wichita, KS, Delores Shelley (Bob) of Lawrence, KS, Mary Ann Kohler (Cecil) of Baldwin City, KS and Patty Ann Pippert Roper of CO, a brother Carl Kirk (Pat) of Raymore, MO. Sister-in-laws Carolyn Pippert & Dorothy Kirk, Lawrence, KS., Jean Pippert, Scranton, KS. Sons: Allan Pippert (Cindy), Bill Pippert (Terri) and Daren Pippert all of Lawrence, KS, Daughter Denise Willits (Richard) of Netawaka, KS, 8 grandchildren & 4 great-grandchildren.
Those who preceded him in death are his parents, step-mother Esther Kirk Pippert, brothers Clifford Kirk, Jay Kirk, Ivan Pippert, and Stanley Pippert, & a grandson Joel Pippert.
In his early years he farmed in Vinland and Midland, Kansas. He loved
working with animals, doing the farm chores and working with his hands. During World War II, he supervised German POWs on the Schultz’s farm. Albert was exempt from going to the war because of his farm status. He loved Country and Western music. Albert was the first of his siblings to own a motorcycle. He owned an Indian motorcycle. Albert’s love of farm & animals, music and motorcycle’s were passed on to his children. He worked for over 40 years for Martin-Marietta Quarry as a mechanic and a plant utility man. After retiring he was appointed a deacon of the LDS Church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is established through Rumsey-Yost funeral home, 601 Indiana, Lawrence, KS 66044 in Albert Pippert’s name.
