James Richard “Dick” Durbin
James Richard “Dick” Durbin, 82, of Overland Park, KS, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, KS.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Tonganoxie, KS.
Dick was born August 9, 1930 in Lawrence, KS, the son of Earle and Josephine Durbin. Dick graduated from Lawrence High School in 1948, and also attended Kansas State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Dick retired from the California Motor Vehicle Department after 23 years of service.
In 1953, Dick was joined in marriage to Constance Cotgias in Alameda, CA. She preceded him in death. In 1993, Dick was joined in marriage to Lorene Rawlings Mahoney in Overland Park, KS. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael James Durbin, Freemont, CA, and Tim Durbin, Livermore, CA; two daughters, Debra Nordgren, Santa Clara, CA and Phyliss Combs, San Ramon, CA; one step-daughter, Deborah Mahoney, Overland Park, KS; and six grandchildren.
