Helen M. Edwards

Osage City — Helen M. Edwards, 98, passed away Monday, September 10, 2012 at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City.
She was born January 9, 1914 in Dickinson County, Kansas, the daughter of Harry and Della (Williams) Norman. She graduated from Dickinson County High School in Chapman, Kansas in 1931.
Helen was joined in marriage to Karl D. Edwards on December 28, 1933 at her parents home in Dickinson County, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 9, 1987. She had lived in Lawrence from 1946 until 2002 when she moved to Osage City.
Helen was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osage City, a life member of the University of Kansas Alumni Association and University Women’s Club and member of the No Name Study Club in Lawrence, Chapter IQ P.E.O Sisterhood, Friendship and Golden Rule Club and United Methodist Women in Osage City. Helen and Karl were in Square Dancing for 30 years. They organized and called for the Barn Dancers Club of Lawrence and for many other clubs.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lois E. Park of Osage City and Nancy R. Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Schad, Lenna Carlson and a brother Wilfred Norman.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m, Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Osage City with a graveside service at 3:00 p.m at Wreford Cemetery, south of Junction City. Mrs. Edwards will lie in state, Wednesday, September 12, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Memorial contributions can be made to United Methodist Church and Osage County Senior Center and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
