Bertha K. Beguelin 1907 - 2012 Lawrence
Funeral services for Bertha K. Beguelin, 104, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. She died on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community in Lawrence.
Bertha was born on October 21, 1907 in McLouth, KS the daughter of William Shrines and Catherine Klyminzewski Lombard. She completed eighth grade at Valley Grove country school in 1920. She worked on her family farm north of Lawrence.
She was a retired dressmaker, who worked for 35 years in downtown stores, including the last 25 years at Weavers Department Store. She retired in 1985.
Bertha and her husband were active in square dancing clubs for over forty years and were members of the Trinity Lutheran Church for seventy years. She loved dancing, round dancing, bible studies, quilting, bridge, bingo and was a fabulous pie maker.
She married Harry Edward Beguelin on April
20, 1926 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death in July 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (wife, Donna) Beguelin, Lawrence, KS and Les (wife, Jean) Beguelin, Topeka, KS, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and eight great- great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family suggests memorials in her name to the Trinity Lutheran Church and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
