Virgil E. Ball Lawrence
Services for Virgil E. Ball, 86, Lawrence will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. He died October 27, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 7, 1926 in Mapleton, KS the son of Thomas and Dollie (Gunsully) Ball.
Virgil was employed at Goodyear as a Tire Builder until his retirement in October 1988. He served in the US Army during Korean and WWII. Medals he received were, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Arm of Occupation Medal.
He married Lorna Brillhart on March 8, 1951 in Huntsville, Arkansas. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include sons, Larry Ball (Elaine), Lawrence, Darryl Ball (Elma), Ozawkie; daughters, Debra Fornelli (Gary) and Barbara Ball, all of Lawrence; sisters, Darlene Grant, Chanute, Reba Lentz, Aurora, MO, Vera Christian, Wichita, KS. 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The family will greet friends at 7:30 – 9 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Cornerstone Southern Baptist Church and may be sent in care of the Mortuary.
