Adrian James Garcia 1978 - 2012 Topeka
Mass of Christian Burial for Adrian James Garcia, 33, Topeka will be held 10 am Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence. He died October 26, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born on November 11, 1978 Lawrence, KS the son of Frankie I. Garcia, Jr and Patricia “Patty” (Attebery) Garcia.
Adrian also known as A-Train graduated from Lawrence High School in 1998. He was a team member of the 1996 LHS football championship team. He later played football at St. Mary’s. Adrian was employed as a Juvenile Youth Officer for Douglas County, Security officer for the Lawrence High School District. Most currently he owned and operated New Start Living. Adrian had a compassion for helping people. He provided a service to people with developmental “abilities”.
Survivors include his mother, Patricia “Patty” Garcia, Topeka, two brothers, Jeremy Michael, and wife, Helena Cook, Lawrence, William “Franco” and wife, Belinda, Topeka; nieces and nephews, Sydney Valencia Garcia, Gabriel Garcia, Jadon Pettit, Deja Garcia, Joshua Garcia, Dominic Garcia; paternal grandmother, Mary Garcia, Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father, Frankie, I. Garcia, Jr.; grandfather, Frankie Garcia, Sr. and his maternal grandparents, George and Marge Attebery.
The family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. A rosary will be held 6:30 at the Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Adrian Garcia Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
