Spencer Michael Haynes

Spencer Michael Haynes was born on Father’s Day, June 17, 1990 and died unexpectedly in his home in Lawrence, Kansas October 22, 2012. In his short life he was blessed with a loving family, many friends from all walks of life and a terrific personality. Spencer was a spiritual person, a deep thinker and a great listener. He enjoyed going to coffee shops and on walks with his mom, rock concerts with his dad, dinners with his sister, and one-on- one conversations with his Grandpa Bill Haynes. He liked dirt bike riding, snow skiing, and mountain hiking, and was a gifted musician, playing the guitar from an early age. Spencer attended West Avondale in Topeka and Cair Paravel Latin School. He lived in Fort Collins and Estes Park, Colorado, where he attended numerous, challenging survivalist camps during the summers. While attending Johnson County Community College, he worked at Dillon’s and then Long John Silvers in Lawrence. Spencer was a thoughtful and compassionate person and will be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his parents Michael Haynes, Lawrence, Michelle Frederick Haynes, Eudora, and his sister Bailey, Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday October 26, 2012 at the Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home in Lawrence, Kansas at 601 Indiana Street. Graveside services will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery in Topeka at 2:00 in the afternoon. Spencer will lie in state on Thursday and memorial contributions can be sent to the Homeless Shelter in Lawrence, Kansas.
