Fern Etta Hughes (Price) 1935 - 2012 Lawrence
Fern Etta Hughes (Price), died Friday, September 28, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She was born in Lawrence, KS, December 29, 1935, the daughter of James and Fern (Searles) Price. She attended Central Jr. High, graduating from the 9th grade. She was a member of the Mid-America Dairy Association. Her work experiences included working at F.W. Woolworth Company in Topeka, Kansas until 1957. After which she spent many years running a dairy farm and continued farming until her illness. She married Cyrus F. Hughes Jr. on August 27, 1955 in Hoyt, Kansas. He proceeded her in death on August 16th, 1985. She is survived by sons James Hughes, and wife Lisa and Lee Hughes of Lecompton, grandchildren Alia Hughes of Lawrence, Aaron Hughes of Lawrence, Trevor Hughes of Topeka, Michael Hughes of Lecompton, as well as 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her visitation is on Tuesday, October 2nd, from 1pm to 2pm at Chapel Oaks Lawrence. Her funeral services will be held at 2pm on Tuesday, October 2nd. Private family services will be held at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery in Ottawa, KS. Donations may be left in care of Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, 3821 W. 6th Street, Lawrence, Kansas 66049 to the Oncology Center in Lawrence Memorial Hospital or the Lecompton Volunteer Fire Department.
