Louise Barker

Louise Barker of Lawrenceville, GA (previously Lawrence, Kansas), passed away Wednesday, October 24th due to complications from COPD/Emphysema. She was 88 years old. She was born in Biddeford, Maine and grew up in southern Maine, Biddeford, Saco and Old Orchard Beach. She spoke only French until the age of five, when she learned English. She was active in the VFW Drum & Bugle Corps, playing the drums in gatherings and parades, when 12 years old. Louise loved swimming. She loved to swim in the Saco River in both warm and cold weather. Louise and her siblings would swim across the river and back. In spring she would jump the logs floating down the river. She saved several individuals from drowning in the Saco River. Louise was known for her feisty and strong spirit. She married Richard E. Barker November, 1947. She was a Loving and protective Mother to Helen and Bill. She exhibited strength beyond measure always putting her children’s needs and care before her own. Louise was known as Memere, (Grandma in French), to most people.
Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Barker. Her Parents, John and Evelyn Danis. Her sisters, Rachel Chenard, (Murfreesboro, Tennessee) and Lucille La Pointe, (Saco, Maine). Her brother, Roger Danis. (Biddeford, Maine). She is survived by her daughter, Helen Barker-Schweda, (Dianne), Lawrenceville, GA, her son, Bill Barker, Lawrence, KS. Her Grandchildren: Kenneth Schweda-Stoskopf (Evan) , (Olathe, KS)/ (Jenny), (Baldwin, KS), Kristi Schweda-Rojas (Juan),( Lawrenceville, GA), Lena Barker (Travis), (Lawrence, KS), Anna Barker (Anthony), (Topeka, KS) and Will Barker, (Topeka, KS). Her Great Grandchildren: Madelyn Schweda, Tristian Schweda, Hayley Schweda, Kyla Currence, Elizabeth Rojas, Frank Rojas and Anaya Currence. Her siblings: Claire Prescott, Rudy Danis, Norman Danis and Joanne Morrison. Her Brother-In-Law, Robert L. Barker (Evelyn), (Cape Cod, MA). She also leaves many Nieces and Nephews as well as many friends.
