Elizabeth Francis Jacobs

Private graveside inurnment services for Elizabeth Francis Jacobs, 107, Lawrence, KS, are planned for a later date at Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City, OK. She died Friday, May 18, 2012, at her home in the Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
Mrs. Jacobs was born on July 13, 1904, in Marble Falls, TX, the daughter of Carl and Charlotte Elizabeth (Spence) Francis. She graduated from Marble Falls High School, and attended Southwestern College, Georgetown, TX. She became a private piano teacher and taught students in her home for 65 years. She lived in San Antonio, TX, Sonora, TX, Marfa, TX, and Pauls Valley, OK, before moving to Lawrence in 1990. At the time of her death, she was the oldest resident of Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, and Chapter GQ of the PEO Sisterhood. In Pauls Valley, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pauls Valley Music Club, and PEO.
She married Robert William Jacobs in Sonora, TX, on June 12, 1936. He preceded her in death in 1984.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Robert W. Jacobs, and his wife Sheryl, of Lawrence; two nieces, Linda Robel of Des Moines, IA, and Juanita Ivy, of San Antonio; and three grandchildren, Robert K. Jacobs and his wife, Michelle, Wichita, Jennifer E. Higdon and her husband, Andrew, Denver, and David A. Jacobs, Denver, and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Lawrence Memorial Hospital Endowment Association or the First United Methodist Church of Lawrence.
