Edna Frances Dunfield Bullock, beloved wife of Robert J. “Bob” Bullock, went to join him in heaven on March 26, 2012. She was born in Lebo, Kansas on July 15, 1923 to Joseph W. and Irma Dunfield.
Edna was always a hard worker. She was a harvest hand during the 1930s, and worked at her mother’s boarding house during high school and college. She earned a Teacher’s Certificate from Kansas State Teacher’s College and was a stock chaser at Beechcraft in Wichita during WW II. There she met the love of her life, Bob Bullock. She started the E-Z Nut Cup Company selling homemade party supplies, and in 1946 started a new career as a mother. The family moved to Shreveport, La. in 1956, where she volunteered for Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Welcome Wagon, and as a MYF counselor for Broadmoor Methodist Church.
After moving to Houston, Edna was a charter member of Covenant United Methodist Church, president of W.S.C.S., and organizer of Mother’s Day Out and Young at Hearts, where she became an avid dominoes player. She and Bob loved to dance. As members of the Meadow Brook Mavericks square dance club, they traveled all over the country finding places to dance. They won Texas Square Dancers of the year when they turned 80 years old. She always entertained everyone with her singing and sense of humor. She climbed trees until well into her 70s.
Her sister, Irmalee Duncan of Anthony, Kansas preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Gerald Dunfield and wife Frances of McLouth, Kansas; and sisters Dorothy Overall of Portland, Oregon; and Thelma Bray and husband Keith of Silver Lake, Kansas.
