Modena Dean 'Moe' Vogt 1935 - 2012 Lawrence
Funeral services for Modena Dean “Moe” Vogt, 76, Lawrence, KS, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS. Burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. He died on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Moe was born on April 18, 1935 in Crow, West Virginia, the son of Cecil and Jewell Lilly Vogt.
He served our country in the United States Air Force.
He was an Asphalt Manager for Dunbar Construction for many years.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, a member of Mt. Oread Aerie #309 Fraternal Order of Eagles where he was the Bingo Chairman for over 25 years and held many other offices throughout the years.
He married Shirley Vogt they later divorced. He then married Virginia Mae “Ginny” (Lewis) Vogt who preceded him in death on July 30, 1996. He then married Joanne Jones who preceded him in death on March 9, 2011.
Survivors include his daughters, Cindy Stultz and husband Bruce, Lawton, OK, Diana Gibson and husband George, Arlington, TX; three grandchildren, Crystal Sellers, Angela Stultz, Tonia Godwin; and one brother, Clacy Vogt, and wife, Nora K., Rochester, NY. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Susan Ann Vogt on June 27, 1989; and one grandson, Jeremy Butler on May 29, 2011.
The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
