Mary Ione McKone Bartee

Mary Ione McKone Bartee, 84, Topeka, passed away March 11, 2012.
Mary was born on January 26, 1928 in Minot ND, the daughter of James Fay and Adeline (Loiselle) McKone. Mary worked as an egg candler and bowling pin setter in her early years. She later worked in California and for the Kansas Legislative Session. Mary was class valedictorian at St. Leo’s High School. She married Harvey Bartee on May 26, 1948 in Minot ND. She was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Church. She was devoted to Most Pure Heart of Mary church and volunteered countless hours there and with the perpetual adoration program. Mary was a consummate cook and had a knack for all things domestic as well as general household maintenance and repairs.
She spent her last month under the tender care of Lexington Park, Grace Hospice and A Helping Hand.
She is survived by her children, Patsy Bartee (Buck Moore), Auburn, Peggy Brockington (Paul), Atlanta, Jim Bartee (Maria Campuzano), Katikati, New Zealand, Mike Bartee (Lee Ann Kramer), Kansas City MO, Tom Bartee (Lorraine Ybarra), Lawrence, Jenny Bartee, Atlanta; grandchildren, Sally Brockington (Ed Van Ness), Andy (Jennifer) Moore, Sam Moore, John Moore, Katie Bartee-Wagner, Joel Moore, Benjamin Bartee; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hailie, Rylee, Henry, Hollie; a sister, Lorraine Venn, Fremont CA; brothers, Rich McKone, Lincoln CA and Jim McKone, Roseville CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; a daughter, Becky Bartee and a brother, Ed McKone.
Visitation will be Friday, March 16, 2012 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka KS 66614; where a parish rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
