Edith B. Dick 1921 - 2012 Parsons

Edith B. Dick, 89, a longtime Parsons resident, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society in Parsons.
She was born on November 22, 1921 at Centerville, Kansas, to John and Ethel (Campbell) Johnson. The family moved to Altamont where she grew up and attended Altamont schools, graduating from Labette County Community High School.
She and Max Dick were married on August 6, 1939 at Oswego, KS at the home of a family friend. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2012.
She was a homemaker and later worked at the Broderick Manufacturing Co. as the corporate secretary/treasurer for 20 years.
She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Parsons. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and playing cards. She volunteered at Labette Health as a pink lady in the gift shop. She was also a member and treasurer of the TOPS organization.
Her survivors include her son, Dan Dick, and his wife, Marlene, of Lawrence, KS; Janet Shears of Parsons, and Marsha Anderson, and her husband, Larry of Valrico, FL; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Roxanne Garland; a great-grandson, Max Pennington; her brothers, Darrell Johnson and Jack Johnson; a sister, Edla Willet; and a son-in-law, Larry Shears.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 Friday evening.
