Richard R. Beach 1923 - 2012 Lenexa
Richard R. Beach, M.D., 88, Lenexa, KS passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS. Memorial services will be 1:30 pm, Wednesday, June 13 at the Lenexa United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lenexa United Methodist Church, 9138 Caenen Lake Road, Lenexa, KS 66215 or to a charity of choice.
Dick was born June 17, 1923 in Kansas City, MO. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Kansas and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. His hospital training was at the Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, MD where he met his future wife, Mary Alice Bailey. They were married in 1955 and lived in Topeka, KS where he practiced internal
medicine until 1985 and then served as the first medical director of HMO Kansas until 1988.
Dick was a member and past president of the Downtown Rotary Club of Topeka. He was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Mendenhall, Ministries (Mendenhall, MS), Habitat for Humanity, and numerous charitable and voluntary organizations.
Dick was preceded in death by his son, John Beach in 2008. Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice; daughter, Nancy (Clyde) Miller; son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Jean Beach; grandchildren, Sarah (Chris) Fitzmaurice, David (Jennifer) McNiel, Hannah McNiel, and Brian Beach; and great-granddaughter, Macy Paige McNiel.
