Mary Irene Easum 1939 - 2012 Lawrence
Mass of Christian Burial services for Mary Irene Easum, 72, Lawrence will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Easum passed peacefully Tuesday June 12, 2012 at Pioneer Ridge Nursing Facility following an extended battle with lung cancer.
She was born December 17, 1939 in Chapman, KS. One of seven children, she was the daughter of Paul and Agnes Scanlan. Mrs. Easum attended school in Chapman, graduating from Dickenson County High School in 1957. Mrs. Easum attended Crums Beauty School in Manhattan, KS and worked as a licensed beautician in Lawrence before marrying Roy Easum on June 2nd, 1962 in Chapman, KS.
The couple lived in Lawrence where Mrs. Easum enjoyed family life raising four children and was a member of St. John’s parish. Survivors include her sons Mike and wife Beth, Overland Park; Pat and wife Amy, Wichita; Kurt and wife Debby, Shawnee; and daughter Katie Northern and husband Joe, Lawrence. Grandchildren include Madison, Emily, Sarah, Shelby, Abby, Mason, Wes, Nate, Matthew, J.T., Grace, and stepgrandchild Jackie, and sister Elaine Winterscheidt, Leavenworth.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy, her parents, and brothers, Daniel, Richard, Tom, Phil, and sister Ann Marie.
A parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, after which the family will receive friends until 7:30 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to St. John’s school, sent in care of Warren McElwain Mortuary.
