Thomas H. Fisher

Funeral services for Thomas H. “Tom” Fisher, 69, Lawrence, Kan., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence, Kan. He died on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at his home.
Tom was born on April 19, 1943 in Topeka, Kan., the son of Mel and Betty (Root) Fisher.
He was a graduate of the University of Kansas with a B.A. in Journalism.
He worked in advertising at the Lawrence Journal-World beginning in 1965 and then became the Advertising Director for several years prior to becoming a sales agent for Re/Max and Stephens Real Estate both of Lawrence before he retired. In his retirement, he was a regular fixture at Centro Cigars.
Survivors include one daughter, Margaret B. “Meg” Fisher, Sherman Oaks, Ca.; two brothers, Robert Fisher, and wife, Ginger, Camden, Ark., and Chuck Fisher, and wife, Erma, Lawrence, Kan.; two nephews, Mike and Steve; and two nieces, Lisa and Kathy.
The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6 – 7:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
