Esther C. Seyler 1919 - 2012 Lawrence
Esther C. Seyler, 92, died Saturday, January 28,2012, at Brandon Woods in Lawrence. Honoring her request, a private family inurnment and celebration of life is planned at a later date.
Esther was born April 18, 1919, in rural Jefferson County, Kansas, the daughter of Fred C. and Anna Wulfkuhle Heck.
She graduated in 1938 from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence. After high school she attended the University of Kansas and Lawrence Business College.
Esther enjoyed traveling, homemaking, gardening, bridge games and crafts. She belonged to Green Thumb Garden Club and volunteered at the Lawrence Visitors Center until her health began to fail.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lawrence.
Esther married Bert J. Seyler on November 23, 1941. They owned and operated Seyler Farm Supply in Perry, Kansas, for thirty-five years until their retirement and move to Lawrence in 1979. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1987. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Stewart, and a brother, Howard Heck.
Survivors include a son, Roger Seyler and wife Angie of Nixa, Missouri, a daughter, Carloyn Oroke and husband Rodger of Lawrence; four grandchildren, Brock Seyler, Farrah Brummett, Jeff Oroke and Kim Barber; a step-grandson, Doug Lanham; and nine great-grandchildren, Cloe, Jordan, Brandon, Victoria, Ryan, Madison, Olivia, Colter, and Alexandria.
